The Ethics of Emerging Technologies: A Cross-Disciplinary Approach to Responsible Innovation
Abstract
Emerging technologies, such as AI, biotechnology, and nanotechnology, hold immense potential but also raise significant ethical concerns. This paper examines how cross-disciplinary approaches can address the ethical, legal, and social implications of these technologies. By integrating insights from philosophy, law, engineering, and social sciences, we propose a framework for responsible innovation that balances technological advancement with ethical considerations. Case studies from Australia illustrate the challenges of regulating emerging technologies and the importance of stakeholder engagement. The paper concludes with recommendations for fostering ethical innovation through interdisciplinary collaboration.
