Cross-Disciplinary Approaches to Disaster Management: Lessons from Australia’s Bushfire Crisis
Abstract
Disaster management requires coordinated efforts across multiple disciplines to mitigate risks and enhance recovery. This paper examines Australia’s bushfire crisis as a case study for cross-disciplinary approaches to disaster management. By integrating expertise from environmental science, emergency response, public health, and social work, we analyze strategies for preparedness, response, and recovery. The paper highlights the role of community engagement, data-driven decision-making, and policy coordination in building resilience. Lessons from Australia’s experience offer valuable insights for other regions facing similar challenges.
